Resource Conservation and Recycling   

Ricoh's products are designed to facilitate the recycling process. New consumer friendly recovery systems help maximize the number of parts suitable for recycling.   

Since 1994, Ricoh has standardized the plastic materials it uses, which allows them to be sorted efficiently for recycling.                           

In addition, the toner cartridges in most of our printers, small copiers and faxes can also be recycled. In fact up to 95 to 100% of their total weight can often be reused. 

We encourage our customers to recycle their toner cartridges by providing pre-paid shipping. Users simply return the cartridges using the replacement cartridge box and pre-addressed stickers included in each box. 

Pollution Prevention 

We continually work to minimize pollution generated from the manufacture, distribution and use of our products. Particularly in the area of noise reduction and ozone emissions, we have taken significant steps. Environmental certification, such as Energy Star and Resy set high standards for chemicals contained and emitted by products. Our products are designed to set even higher standards in order to minimize the use and emissions of chemicals that are hazardous to the environment.

Energy Conservation and Environmental Technology Development

Our products are designed to conserve energy and reduce the total amount of environmental impact caused during their use.   

The benefits to be gained from energy conservation are two-fold. Firstly, lowering energy consumption means that the environment benefits due to the reduced need for fossil fuel or nuclear generated power. Secondly, the economy benefits, as we are able to produce products more competitively. 

Saving Time 

Most office equipment such as printers, multifunctional devices, copiers, and faxes are left on for 24 hours a day either in operation or standby mode. Many users tended to bypass the energy-saving features as it meant wasting time waiting for the machine to warm-up.

However, Quick Start-Up technology (QSU) is used to significantly cut warm-up times on office equipment to as little as 10-15 seconds. To ‘wake’ the machine, the user simply has to insert the document into the automatic document feeder (ADF), open the platen cover, or just touch any key. 

Saving Paper

Our double-sided output speed for printing and copying, which is almost as fast as that of single-sided output. Double-sided printing and copying should be encouraged as not only does it reduce paper usage, but it also results in energy reduction.
